Mushy Girl: Meat Up
Mushy Girl aka Delilah Lin aka Dee-Dee is fast-talking, quick-moving, up-and-coming hyper-hyphenated creative force to be reckoned with. Luckily, we managed to catch up with her and asked a few questions to get to know a bit more about her and her work.
Where did you grow up?
Hsinchu, Taiwan
What inspired this artwork?
This piece is inspired by a newly established romantic relationship when both parties find it hard to get their hands off each other whenever they meet, especially in this case when their love languages are both physical touch.
In the texts, there were a lot of "meet up" when we organised where to see each other. Slowly I would swap the "meet" into "meat" just because how passionate we were with each other physically. In the end I would slide in the meat emoji to replaced the word "meat" in "meat up" because the aesthetic of the design. 🥩
I also like being cheeky when texting too, because you get to hide sub-meaning in the texts or emojis easily and have them left to be discovered. And when the other party actually discover the hidden meaning, I would have a grin and think "Wow, you do get me".
What’s your next step?
Start making a series of artwork and narrate a story; solo exhibition; art residency.
For future aspirations, I hope to be inspired continuously by the images that make my heart tingle in daily life. Keeping the creative intention that I set when I first started my practice, I wish to spread this warm fuzzy feeling that I feel to the audience. On the path of being an art practitioner, I hope that I can keep trying out different forms of art and widening my perspective as a multidisciplinary artist.
Looking forward to your next steps! Thanks for sharing!
