What’s on in Auckland: Four experiences not to miss

1. Kōrero with Debbie Ngarewa-Packer
Wednesday 27th April, 7-8.30pm

Debbie (Ngāti Ruahina, Ngāruahine and Ngā Rauru) is co-leader of Te Pati Maori. At this kōrero she will be sharing an open conversation with broadcaster and Te Reo activist Stacey Morrison on Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Debbie envisions an Aotearoa where Tangata Whenua, Tangata Moana and Tangata Tiriti together will realise the true intent of Te Tiriti.

It is an opportunity to challenge your worldview and to consider Aotearoa’s future for both policymaking and daily life.

This zoom conference is hosted by Auckland Women's Centre and is open to all.

2. Declaration: A Pacific Feminist Agenda at Auckland Art Gallery

Declaration: A Pacific Feminist Agenda is the newest exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery. It brings together 12 prominent artists from across the Pacific, whose works set a feminist agenda by bringing to the fore the most pressing issues of our times: climate change and resilience, tino rangatiratanga (sovereignty), activism and social justice.

The exhibition runs until 31st July 2022 and is free to enter.

3. I am Island and Sea at the Maritime Museum

Artists Kate Parker and Sarah-Jane Blake collaborate with young voices of Tāmaki Makaurau to bring you an interactive display of our ocean world.

Explore the past, present and future of Tīkapa Moana Hauraki Gulf and beyond, see the devastating effects of a kina barren, and be inspired to protect and improve the mauri and health of our region.

Auckland-based artist Kate Parker (Ngāti Maniapoto) represents the New Zealand forest and sea she grew up by.

Her drive is to find ways to support the planet and create positive change with her work.

The exhibition is on at the Maritime Museum until 15th May 2022.
