Introducing Antonia:
Antonia at Manzana with artworks by Luna Leo Lee (left) and Paris Kirby (right).
Manzana is so happy to welcome Antonia Grant to the team. Antonia will be working at 47 High Street on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s from 2-5 pm, and on Friday’s from 10-1 pm to accommodate her university schedule. Here is a brief interview with Antonia to introduce her to Manzana residents, artists, creatives and supporters.
Can you tell us about your studies?
I’m in my fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Global Studies conjoint degree. My majors are sociology and global politics. The name is a bit of a mouthful, but essentially it means I get to study a little bit of everything! I’m hoping to steer it towards a career involved with climate action organisations, like Mañana Today.
You found out about Manzana via Mañana Today, what drew you to that business?
I first heard about Mañana Today through a friend, and I found the business attractive because it seemed much more open and accessible than a lot of similar companies. The language Mañana Today used sounded like I could realistically get involved and make change in the world. I liked the focus on actions rather than vague sustainability concepts and buzzwords. What particularly drew me to MT was the possibility of working in a project-based environment, where I could watch and learn how others realise meaningful projects from concept to finish.
What are you excited about for Manzana?
I’m so excited for the energy that’s there when women work together to get stuff done! I can already see that working in Manzana will be a source of motivation for me, and I can’t wait to get to know every resident and their businesses.
What do you feel you’re able to contribute to the Manzana community?
I’m Manzana’s no. 1 fan… so I hope that my attitude can benefit the community. I feel really privileged to be in this space and I really look forward to celebrating a project’s progress and sharing the burden on a hard day too. Aside from that, I can offer a good chat when you’re looking for a new perspective on things.
Your support and perspective is already appreciated Antonia!
