Soraa Glass: The past, the present, the possible.
Jark Pane (Soraa Glass) is a Korean-born, Auckland-based designer who uses glass blowing in her collections.
She writes about her work: “Soraa Glass objects are forever pieces that celebrate the intimate relationship between time and natural light. A way to reconnect to the orbital rhythms around us. An Ode to the salty landscapes of Aotearoa.”
The past, the present, the possible is site-specific, and we caught up with Jark to learn a little more about this unique work.
What inspired this piece?
This site-specific installation is inspired by the acute global conversations around the possible future choices we have ahead of us. A brilliant moment in time. We are able to vividly document, hear and see the colourful soundscape of our zeitgeist.
If you haven’t been to Manzana but follow our instagram, you’re bound to have seen images of it.
The artwork takes shape as a 90cm diameter circle, with fragments of glass in shades of the rainbow affixed to nails that go directly into the wall.
Thank you Jark!
